The SR-72 Darkstar is designed to fly at Mach 6, or 4,600 miles per hour (mph). This makes it the fastest plane ever developed, and about twice as fast as the SR-71 Blackbird.
 

The SR-72 is powered by combined-cycle engines that switch between turbofan and scramjet modes. It can fly at supersonic speeds (Mach 1.2 to Mach 5) using turbofan mode, and hypersonic speeds (Mach 5 to Mach 10) using scramjet mode.

The SR-72 is a top-secret project, and the United States Air Force has not publicly revealed many details. However, some speculate that the SR-72 will have a range of about 3,000 miles, and a combat radius of about 1,500 miles.

On Friday, 24 June 1994, a  United States Air Force  (USAF)  Boeing B-52 Stratofortress  crashed at  Fairchild Air Force Base ,  Washington , United States, [ 2 ]  after its pilot,  Lieutenant Colonel  Arthur "Bud" Holland, maneuvered the bomber beyond its operational limits and lost control.
