Inside the Most Expensive Plane Crash in History: How America’s Most Secretive Stealth Bomber Ended Up in Flames On February 23, 2008,  at approximately 10:30 a.m. local time on the island of Guam, one of the most powerful aircraft in the world was in deep trouble. Moments after takeoff, the  B-2 Spirit stealth bomber  known as  Spirit of Kansas  baffled the two pilots in the plane’s cockpit as it began to inexplicably descend back to Earth. The crew struggled in an attempt to regain control of the doomed bomber, but its left wing clipped the runway and both pilots were ejected—one suffered a spinal injury, but thankfully, there were no casualties. The incident was over in a matter of seconds, but it left behind a $2 billion receipt, making it the most expensive airplane crash in history. A B-2, capable of leveling entire cities and wreaking apocalyptic destruction, had been brought down by nothing more than a simple change in the weather. The crash would...

On Friday, 24 June 1994, a  United States Air Force  (USAF)  Boeing B-52 Stratofortress  crashed at  Fairchild Air Force Base ,  Washington , United States, [ 2 ]  after its pilot,  Lieutenant Colonel  Arthur "Bud" Holland, maneuvered the bomber beyond its operational limits and lost control. The aircraft  stalled , fell to the ground and exploded, killing Holland and the other three crew aboard. The crash was captured on video and was shown repeatedly on news broadcasts throughout the world. The subsequent investigation concluded that the crash was attributable primarily to three factors: Holland's personality and behavior, USAF leaders' delayed or inadequate reactions to earlier incidents involving Holland, and the sequence of events during the aircraft's final flight. The crash is now used in military and civilian aviation environments as a  case study  in teaching  crew resource management . It is also often used by th...

SR-72 darkstar top speed mph

Image
SR-72 darkstar top speed mph The SR-72 Darkstar is designed to fly at Mach 6, or  4,600 miles per hour  (mph).  This makes it the fastest plane ever developed, and about twice as fast as the SR-71 Blackbird.   The SR-72 is powered by combined-cycle engines that switch between turbofan and scramjet modes.  It can fly at supersonic speeds (Mach 1.2 to Mach 5) using turbofan mode, and hypersonic speeds (Mach 5 to Mach 10) using scramjet mode. The SR-72 is a top-secret project, and the United States Air Force has not publicly revealed many details.  However, some speculate that the SR-72 will have a range of about 3,000 miles, and a combat radius of about 1,500 miles.

Why is roofing one of the most dangerous jobs

Roofing is a job that almost everyone needs, but few understands how dangerous roofing really is. It’s bad enough that a fall might kill you, but roofers face a whole host of other on-the-job hazards as well. From burns to volatile tars and chemicals, electrocution from contact with exposed power lines, and injuries from falling and injury from other roofing debris are just a few of the risks roofers face each day. Roofing work is very hard and you have to be very tough and also be very smart to be a full-time roofer. The job is physically as well as intellectually demanding, which is why it was rated as the 4th most dangerous job in North America. Most people don’t understand why roofing is so dangerous and the many hazards that make roofing so perilous. Hazards such as; roof stability, working at heights, working with chemicals, weather conditions, working with flame and hot asphalt, lifting heavy materials, fumes, dust, using saws and power tools, cranes and overhead lifting are ...
